About The Band

Introduction

Rooted in a love for traditional country music, Co-operative Connection perform covers of legends like Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, and Willie Nelson — with a touch of modern flair from artists like Garth Brooks and Josh Turner. Alongside these classics, we also showcase a growing set of original songs, written from the heart.

The band began as a duo, formed by Matt and Barry after crossing paths at a local Barnsley open mic night — held, fittingly, in a former Co-operative store. That shared moment of connection inspired our name, Co-operative Connection, as a nod to the place where our musical journey started.

As the music grew, so did the band. Peter joined us on cajón to bring rhythm to the mix, and finally, we were joined by Cole, our young and highly talented lead guitarist and pedal steel player, adding that all important country twang.

Today, we play regular gigs across the UK, with a strong local presence in our hometown of Barnsley. Whether it's a familiar classic or one of our own creations, we bring heartfelt country music to every stage we step on.
